
OUR ETHICS
Setting the Standard
As a means of promoting the highest quality of professional and personal conduct of its members, the following constitutes IACFT’s Code of Ethics which is endorsed by all members of the Alliance:
Every member shall refrain from exercising professional or personal conduct adverse to the best interests and objectives of the Alliance.
The objectives of membership within the Alliance shall be:
to promote professionalism, honesty, integrity, objectivity and competency in the membership’s actions and associated activities;
to promote education for and research in clinical and/or forensic toxicology;
to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the cause of clinical and/or forensic toxicology;
to promote international communications; and
to plan, organize, administer and enhance virtual meetings in multiple languages made available to all members for the stimulation and advancement of these and related purposes.
No member of the Alliance shall materially misrepresent their education, training, experience, certification, area of expertise, or membership status within the Alliance.
No member of the Alliance shall materially misrepresent data or scientific principles upon which his or her conclusion or professional opinion is based.
No member of the Alliance shall testify under oath or offer expert opinions outside of the limits of individual competence and generally accepted scientific principles.
No member of the Alliance shall receive remuneration for their work towards the activities of the Alliance.
No member of the Alliance shall issue public statements that appear to represent the position of the Alliance without first obtaining specific authority from the Board Trustees.
